In September 2022, the City was recognized with a Gold Award of Excellence at the annual International Economic Development Council (IEDC) annual conference in Oklahoma City for its Guelph Shops Holiday Wish Book.

The City collaborated with Guelph Chamber of Commerce and local graphic designer Ellyn Lusis on the inaugural edition to promote Guelph as a top visitor and business destination during the holiday season. The wish book showcased more than 40 local businesses from various shopping categories at a time when economic recovery and business resiliency were of the utmost importance.

Guelph’s diverse business community welcomed the opportunity to participate and were a major contributor to the wish book’s success. This collaboration boosted the City’s efforts to attract tourists, visitors and shoppers to the city, and all were excited and grateful to receive international attention and a Gold Award of Excellence from such a distinguished organization.

The Guelph Shops Holiday Wish Book is one of several ways the City creates a sustainable, creative and smart local economy supporting a future-ready Guelph.
